Richard’s Debut * Newborn Photography * Augusta, Ga

I am notoriously bad about getting lost. And it doesn’t help that my GPS, whom I love dearly, often directs me to the wrong house number on a bad day. So when I realized that I’d be going up against Friday afternoon traffic and a new neighborhood, I started to get nervous about arriving on time. Luckily the family that I was meeting didn’t mind one bit and my navigational buddy landed me in the right spot after all. When I arrived on the scene, baby Richard was busy chillaxing on his Daddy’s knee.

He’s thinking about something deep and profound. Since I’ve spent plenty of time consoling a fussy baby myself, I could understand his parents’ reluctance to move him out of this happy trance-like state. So we hung out in the living room for awhile.

Their dog Dover entertained us by alternating between protective barking and his uncanny ability to find hidden treats.

After awhile we moved into the nursery to take advantage of the gorgeous afternoon sunlight streaming through the windows. I think the giraffe was my favorite piece in these pictures, but this nursery was packed with adorable little odds and ends.

Rich was a champ. He lounged comfortably and barely made a peep while my shutter clicked away.

I loved this little door ornament. As soon as I saw it, this was the picture I envisioned.

It was a pleasure to photograph such a sweet angel boy. I feel so privileged to get to do this job that I love!

Sunday Afternoon

honey * a local treat * augusta, ga

Bri and I are watching Sesame Street and today’s word is “pollinate.” Some of the characters are transformed into bees. Watching them learn about flowers, crayons and colonies reminded me of something else that comes from bees. HONEY!

We’ve recently started giving Bri breathing treatments for her coughing attacks. The doctor says it’s too early to call it asthma. We were told that local honey would be a good way to increase her resistance to local allergens. It might make her coughing attacks decrease. So I started researching local honey suppliers right before Christmas – way out of season!

I found Deborah online and after reading her incredible story, I gave her a call. She was so sweet! She invited us to come see the bees, or the girls as she calls them and she told us all about their system for making honey. We bought a jar and she even gave us a free sample – a lotion bar made from beeswax.

We were delighted to meet her and learn about beekeeping. We were even more delighted when we tasted the honey that night at home. It was heavenly! Now, usually it takes us a year or two to finish a plastic teddy bear filled with honey. We don’t eat a lot of honey normally. But in the past week and a half we’ve consumed two thirds of this mason jar! It’s that good.

We now eat honey toast whenever we’re together as a family – breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bri helped me take these photos at breakfast this morning. We had scrambled eggs and honey toast. The photo shoot didn’t last very long though. We couldn’t resist eating that honey!

Magnetic Attraction

You may see these around town soon! I ordered new magnets for the side of our mini-van and magnetic business cards to hand out. They feature the lovely bridal model below!

Self Portrait

I’ve been working on a few self portraits this week and thought I’d share my favorite.

There’s a new section on the main website called, “Backstage.” That’s where you can learn more about me and I thought a picture of me was kind of important. I’ve added and deleted an “About Me” section several times over the last few months. It’s harder than it looks!

It’s always easier for me to be behind the lens. So it’s kind of weird to be both the subject and the photographer!

Candy Canes and Christmas

They seem to go hand in hand! This yummy treat was Bri’s first. I’m sure there will be many to come. As you can see, she thought thinks candy canes are delicious!

Too Cute at Two Years Old {Augusta, Ga photography}

This little man recently turned two and had a great time celebrating. He seems to be extremely enthusiastic about all things boy. He loves cars and “big twucks.” He also loves to run! It took three adults to keep him corralled from the street. We went to Lookaway Hall in North Augusta for the shoot and had a marvelous time.

Ethan

My very first clients came back for their second session with me and the hope of getting nice Christmas pictures. Kim and Chris are gorgeous in their pictures but I didn’t want to spoil any surprises. So I’ve saved all of their family portraits in case they decide to use them on a card for you!

Ethan was very serious when we started the session. He wasn’t so sure about me at first.

He needed some Mommy love.

And a froggy friend! Ethan’s daddy found this baby frog and we were all fascinated by him.

After all of that fun, Ethan decided I was pretty cool. Isn’t he adorable?
